Kim Christopher Welinski
Owner and principal photographer at asterisk photography, Kim studied at UTS where he obtained a Bachelor of Business (with Distinction) and spent 14 years working in the financial markets.
His passion for photography saw him study under Murray Fredericks & Gordon Undy at point light gallery, especially the fine art of black & white silver gelatin darkroom printing.
With young children of his own, Kim learnt first-hand how to take portrait photographs of kids in a very candid & natural style. Yet it has always been the spontaneous nature of a wedding that has inspired Kim.
The 2000 Sydney Olympics renewed his determination to photograph in a photo-journalistic style and September 11, 2001 was the catalyst for him to make a new start in business.
Kim not only runs the studio but also takes time out to teach digital photography to amateurs & budding professionals alike at Sydney Photographic Workshops (SPW).
“Having gained so much insight from my many gifted teachers over the years it’s now a privilege to be able to share that knowledge with others who are also keen to learn.”
At the end of the day it is the reward of having satisfied clients that sees Kim photographing time after time.
